Trey Mills - Biography

Born and raised in Owen Sound Ontario, Trey Mils lived in Toronto for several years before making Calgary his home in 2008. He records and produces his own music and still devotes a generous amount of time producing other Artists. His recent single ‘Candles Burnin’ and his Christmas song ‘Every Day is Christmas Day’ have received airplay on major radio stations across Canada, while the song ‘Saving Me’ reached number 1 on various countdowns and podcasts.

Trey cites Elton John, Cold War Kids, Marvin Gaye, Carly Simon, Queen, Joni Mitchell and Rachmaninoff as key influences. Despite his varied musical background, his performance style follows in the great tradition of Canadian singer-songwriters, singing about love, loss and the great Canadian landscape. Critics have compared him to UK success stories, Snow Patrol, Damien Rice and Chris Martin and the American group The Fray.

Trey has produced Top 10 US Billboard CDs for the Grammy nominated Canadian Brass, penned songs and produced hits for Grammy nominated singer Melanie Fiona, Zoe Bentley, X-Quisite and MTV's Nicole Holness. He has lent his talent to the soundtracks of popular television shows such as Soul Food, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and The World Cup of Soccer.

At the age of 12, Trey put his first band together; at 19, he won a Canadian Music Publisher’s Association Award (CMPA), Q-107’s Scott Little Canadian National Songwriting Competition and a US Billboard Special Achievement Award. Today, he continues making music and growing as an artist.
